Power Boost For Maximum Performance Increase
Thanks to intelligent electronics, STIHL power tools and batteries communicate with each other. If the device and battery are equipped with the POWER BOOST function, the battery always provides the maximum possible power for the respective application. In order to ensure optimum battery life, the device temporarily adjusts the power if it is used too intensively.
Constant Power Regardless Of Battery Status

Height Adjustable Comfort Handlebar
The mono-comfort handlebar is only mounted on one side of the lawn mower, making it easier for you to remove the grass collection box. As the handlebar is height-adjustable, it enables you to mow your lawn comfortably and ergonomically. You can adjust it to your preferred height without using tools. As the handlebar is also foldable, the lawn mower can be compactly stored and transported.
Vario Self Drive
Vario wheel drive allows you to adjust the speed of your lawn mower to suit your personal mowing habits and grass conditions. The mowing speed can be adjusted on a an infinitely variable basis via the control lever on the handlebar.
Flow Optimised Blades
Flow-optimised blades mean your lawn mower uses less electricity; as a result, you can use cordless mowers to mow larger areas with the same amount of energy, even without charging. The blades trim the grass with minimal air resistance, making optimal use of the stored energy.
Folding Grass Collection Box
Your lawn mower is equipped with a folding grass collection box to make emptying clippings very straightforward. The fill-level indicator signals the right time for emptying. An airstream ensures dense filling while mowing, so you can make optimum use of the full volume of the box. The slats on the side of the box direct the air towards the ground, which protects you from dirt being swirled up.
Central Cut Height Adjustment For Lawn Mowers
You can adjust the cutting height on your lawn mower easily and in several levels. A scale shows the current height. Central cut-height adjustment allows you to optimally adapt your mowing to the conditions of the lawn.
Eco Mode
With Eco mode activated, the speed of your power tool engine automatically adapts to the output you actually need. This means that your battery-powered tool consumes less energy and you can work for longer before it needs to be recharged.
Sequential Discharge
If the first battery in your device runs out, it will automatically switch to the second battery without interrupting your work.
Digital HMI
The display and controls on the handle bar of your lawn mower inform you of the charge level of the batteries, the working mode you have selected, the maximum speed setting and possible faults thanks to several indicators. This allows you to see at a glance what is necessary to work effectively at all times. In addition, you can use the HMI to make changes to settings such as the driving speed or mowing mode.
Splashwater Protection IPX4 Certified
The IPX protection classes define the moisture protection of electrical or electronic devices. The moisture protection test is defined in different stages. IPX4 certifies protection against splashwater from all sides. Battery-powered tools with this certification are therefore designed for daily use, even in rainy conditions.

Recommended battery AP 500 S
The RMA 453 PV from STIHL is a battery-powered lawn mower with variable speed drive, designed for users looking to cut large lawns. This 4 Series battery-powered lawn mower is quiet and packs plenty of power – making it the ideal choice for gardeners.
This lawn mower is built with a rugged polymer deck that is lightweight, rust proof and double layered for additional stability. It’s UV resistant, has a 51 cm / 20" cutting width and single point height adjustment that is adjustable between 20 – 100 mm. The RMA 453 PV is part of the AP System range of tools and is powered by an AP 300 S battery that is interchangeable with other machines across the range. This lawn mower is fitted with sequential battery discharge, which means the lawn mower has an automatic switchover feature - so when one battery runs out of power, it will automatically switch over to the next one. On a full charge with the recommended AP 300 S battery you will be able to mow lawns up to 450 m2, which becomes 900 m2 when the lawn mower is used with two AP 300 S batteries.
The RMA 453 PV has 4 different ways of mowing. No additional tools are required but we do recommend you refer to the owner’s manual before working. You can either:
Cut & collect with the grass catcher box fitted
Cut & drop by removing the grass catcher box
Side discharge with the flap that is integrated into the deck
Mulch with the multi-blade and mulching attachment
The RMA 453 PV has a built-in electronic interface on the mono-handlebar which shows useful information such as the battery charge, the ability to switch between mowing modes* and adjust the motor speed levels. The comfort mono-handlebar allows easy access to the grass catcher box, making it easier to remove and empty when it’s full – plus, thanks to the fill level indicator on the grass catcher box you’ll know exactly when to empty the box too! The 55-litre grass catcher box is ergonomically designed and easy to fully open for fast emptying. The sturdy mono-handlebar is height adjustable and foldable for compact storage after use. The mono-handlebar also has a 10-year domestic warranty too.
