Power Boost For Maximum Performance Increase
Thanks to intelligent electronics, STIHL power tools and batteries communicate with each other. If the device and battery are equipped with the POWER BOOST function, the battery always provides the maximum possible power for the respective application. Our cold start feature protects the cells by warming them up in a controlled way before delivering full power and allows them to work down to -20 degrees. This AP battery has an improved cold start feature and can deliver full power within as little as 2 minutes at -20° Celsius.

The IPX protection classes define the moisture protection of electrical or electronic devices. The moisture protection test is defined in different stages. IPX4 certifies protection against splashwater from all sides. Battery-powered tools with this certification are therefore designed for daily use, even in rainy conditions.
Connectivity (Ready)
You can mount a Smart Connector 2 A in the housing of the power tool at the dedicated position. Once installed, this connects to the control unit and transmits valuable power tool data to your smartphone, tablet or the STIHL connected Box that is within range. You can use the STIHL connected App and the STIHL connected Portal to view the STIHL connected gathered data and benefit from additional functions.
Stihl Anti Vibration System
Vibrations can occur when you put your power tools through their paces, and these are particularly noticeable in the grip area. The buffer and spring elements of the STIHL anti-vibration system reduce the transmission of vibrations to the handle area and therefore to your body. The STIHL FSA 400 is the first battery-powered clearing saw from STIHL. Designed for professionals working in landscaping and grounds maintenance, it has power output that is comparable to the FS 411 C-EM petrol clearing saw, and is best suited to clearing tough grass, shredding plant growth and felling small trees. The FSA 400 is battery powered – meaning it has low noise emissions, making it ideal for use in noise sensitive areas too.
Fitted with a bike handle for comfortable working when taking on clearing jobs. The folding clamp makes it quick and easy to adjust the bike handle to the ergonomic position that suits you. The FSA 400 has a powerful EC motor and speed-adjustment on the control handle, which can be set at 3 different speed levels depending on the type of work you are doing. Automatic RPM adjustment helps with energy efficient work – the RPM increases to 6,900 when it is used with a BrushCut or PolyCut mowing head and reduces to 5,000 when used with the AutoCut head.
The STIHL anti-vibration system reduces vibrations on the STIHL FSA 400, protecting your muscles and joints during use. The air filter on the housing ensures that the engine is kept cool during work, improving the service life of the clearing saw. It’s easy to remove and clean too. The FSA 400 comes supplied with a ADVANCE PLUS universal harness.
The FSA 400 comes with fitted with the AutoCut 46-2 mowing head as standard but it can be fitted with a variety of other STIHL mowing heads, including:
TrimCut 42-2 mowing head (manual adjustment)
DuroCut 40-4 high-performance mowing head
PolyCut 48-2 polymer blade mowing head
Plus, you can fit the FSA 400 with metal cutting blades too, including:
GrassCut grass-cutting blade
BrushCut brush knife
ShredCut shredder blade
WoodCut circular saw blade

The FSA 400 is IPX4 certified, meaning it can be used in all weather conditions. Durable components such as the sturdy battery casing design, stainless steel filter and large 28mm diameter aluminium shaft help cement this tool as the ideal choice for professionals. It also has a mounting point for the STIHL Smart Connector 2 A on the power tool housing.
